The scg journey

Matt and Darren's journey began in 2003 as police officers with the Queensland Police Service, working in the western city of Mount Isa. Matt was a newly appointed Constable and Darren a newly promoted Sergeant, with them forming a strong professional bond founded on common values that serve today as the foundation for SCG's business investment.  Following 2 years working together, Matt and Darren went on to other work opportunities, with Matt finishing his policing career as a Detective in the Child Protection Investigation Unit in 2009 and Darren moving to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2011 and transferring his leadership and management capabilities into international settings as a Director, Training and Development (Law Enforcement) for 4 years.

On leaving the Queensland Police Service, Matt moved into senior management roles in the public and private sectors, specializing in safety, risk and compliance, where his passion for Systems Based Thinking developed to the extent that he ventured into the world of PhD qualification in this space.

On returning from the UAE, Darren moved into the hospitality industry as an Organisational Development Practitioner and Continuous Improvement Specialist for one of Australia's largest hotel companies, where his passion for people development grew to the extent that he completed a Master of Business Administration majoring in Human Resource Development to hone his capability leadership skillsets.

Matt and Darren stayed constantly connected across this phase of their professional lives and, as destiny would have it, their paths crossed again when both moved from the private sector to public sector employment, ending up working together in a local government environment.

This re connection perfectly blended Matt's passion and dedication to Systems Leadership with Darren's passion and dedication to Capability Leadership and their combined passion and dedication to the art of Governance - and SGC Global Group was born.....
